The guy that got his arm ripped off was noodling. Was is Noodling? it is where you stick your hand into the mouth of a catfish and pull it out of the water, I know, it sounds crazy and I would never do that. Anyhow, this guy stuck his hand into the gators mouth and the gator took his arm off.

There was another incident where a golfer went to the water to retrieve his ball and a gator got him too. I say you have more golf balls you can play with, let that one in the water go!!!!! lol

Now, there has never been a recordable death by alligators here and I dive a lot in the black river waters with alligators and snakes. Some say I am crazy for doing it but I like it.

You will see skiers and tubers in the water with gators, it really is not a problem.

The way I look at it, there hasn't been an alligator attack for awhile? That means they are due!

We moved down from the Lake Norman North Carolina area and I have to tell you, I would take that Lake over the alligator infested Moultrie or the intercoastal waterways any day of the week. Boating here kind of stinks from the aspect there are not many places that you can just stop and jump in the water.

I have lived here all of my life (Over 50 years) and have NEVER seen a gator in the Charleston IntraCoastal waterway! NEVER!

I fish about 175 days a year in the Ashley,Cooper,Stono, IntraCoastal waterway, and the Wando river.

Some people don't have a clue about what they are talking about........................................

I said there were gators in Lake Moultrie, not the Intercoastal Waterway. I was just including two of the more popular boating spots in my comparison to Lake Norman. The gator comment was meant to describe Moultrie only.

Anywhere or do they have to pick their spots? That is my point. You have to pick your spots in Charleston.
