Not sure where they are getting the "upscale" from.

Best place to raise kids in South Carolina: Goose Creek
Nearby city: Charleston
Population: 33,824
Median family income: $66,405
Runner-up: Walhalla

The City of Goose Creek is a sleepy, upscale suburb of Charleston established in 1961. The history of the town, however, dates back to the 1600s. Today the town has a growing bike and trail system through safe, tree-lined streets and curling cul-de-sacs. For kids, recreation includes everything from gymnastics to piano lessons to belly dancing at local community centers.

As gently as possible- I will have to say that the description is rather kind.

Goose Creek has its pluses but it is not an uppercrust town with a village from the 1600s???

And Walhala #2? Fer reelz????

It's a joke. As usual when I read something like this, I have to wonder where they get their data from. As a long time resident I can tell you that crime is high, the schools have their problems and the parents constantly battle with them. The traffic is awful. The pay stinks (definitely not $66k) and if you want a decent meal, you have to go to another town. Oh, and lets not forget that kids can't walk to school and cross Crowfield Blvd. because no one will stop and let them cross at the crosswalks.

Yep. Great place to raise your kids....hmmmm.

I live in Crowfield and love it here. Not sure where you are getting crime is high because I haven't seen it. My daughter graduated from Stratford and I was never in battle with it. Traffic is bad everywhere! In our area you can thank the build up around Carnes Crossroads and all of the subdivisions coming up between Goose Creek and Moncks Corner. The kids don't walk to school because they have busses to pick them up. Most people that live in Goose Creek work somewhere else.

The only thing I agree with you on is having to drive in order to get a decent meal.
