Big news coming out of the retail front, probably the first of the year so far. Trader Joe's has signed a lease to open a store at 401 Johnnie Dodds Blvd in Mt. Pleasant. Now, it is the home of Hungryneck Antique Mall.

The store is opening in July. There is one other store in SC, in Greenville, which opened up earlier in 2010. People traveled from miles around to visit. Trader Joe's is like Whole Foods only a little different.

There are both stores in our current area. Both carry very fine foods, and no doubt will be a welcome addition to your area.

Whole Foods offer services like prepared foods, salad bars, and very boutique items that Trader Joes does not offer. TJ is more of a straight up grocery store, a high quality grocery store.

For perspective, when we're working in an area that has a whole foods store, we stop there for lunch rather than local fast foods. The food is much more like home made. Way better than _________________(fill in your fast food joint) When I need organics, and other top quality foods at fair prices I hit up TJs'
YMMV

We've had Whole Foods in our area for several years. It opened in like 2004. People go to Whole Foods just to order the lunch. Trader Joe's will be new to our area. The closest location is in Greenville, 4 hours away.

Excellent news for the Charleston area! Trader Joes is fantastic. Much smaller than whole foods, with better prices, all organic and with a fun, comical attitude.

Wow, that's fantastic! And right in Whole Paycheck's - er I mean Whole Foods - back yard!

Am a little sad, though - is Hungryneck closing? I loved wandering around in there, so many neat things!
