Hey Charleston folks,

Remember your former Superintendent Dr. Maria Goodloe-Johnson. It looks like Seattle is having a battle between her and Seattle Public School System due to school budget. This is what happens when a school district gets too greedy with its budget by supporting its top heavy philosophy while those who are doing the work (teachers) are being laid off. I do not blame Superintendent Anthony Parker from Berkeley County to retire early to avoid a situation like what Goodloe-Johnson is experiencing in Seattle. Here are the videos....

I just saw that on the news and am not surprised at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't find this to be true with our current superintendent as well. It's amazing how they don't have enough money to pay the teachers but they continue to hire upper administrative people at top pay ($80,000 +). I'm glad that Wendell Guilliard is digging into this and demanding accountability and transparency in the school budget and spending.

The superintendent of Charleston County Schools makes over $200k...about half of what the Governor of the State makes.

I am glad that I am teaching and will be taking an administrative role in the rural public school system in SC rather than urban public school system.

I think you have that backwards, Gov makes close to a 100K... remember the media hype about her assistant making more than her, at 125K?

That's nothing. We've got Superintendents making over $500,000 + benefits here in NY. What a racket!

Yeah...typed it wrong. Should have been "about double what the Gov. makes".
