I moved to the area back in the summer. My doctor is recommending hip replacement surgery. Rather than rely solely on her recommendation for a surgeon, I am seeking information from others who have had this a hip replaced.

Thanks

I don't know anyone in the area that has had this done but you can go to MUSC and look up their ortho surgeons.....

Sorry to hear you need surgery.....I am a RN and former coordinator for ortho surgeries. Call MUSC and obtain the names of MDs that SPECIALIZE IN HIP REPLACEMENT. The recalled devices should be no issue for you.

Set an appt and get answers to all your questions from the MD. You do not have to commit to anything. Make sure you like and trust the MD. I realize insurance etc at times has to play a part on where you go for treatment.....but try for MUSC.

Many who have had this surgery are thrilled with the results!

Best wishes

Just to let you know,,,WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT! have any surgery done at any of the Trident Hospitals. They have a VERY bad reputation...................

PLEASE, do yourself a huge favor...make an appt to see Dr. John Masonis at Ortho Carolina in Charlotte.

He does an anterior approach hip replacement that cuts your recovery time in half! You really owe it to yourself to check him and this state of the art procedure out.
