When I lived in Charleston back in the 90's, one of the highlights of every year was the WaveFest put on by 96Wave.
The line-ups were incredible - Meat Puppets, Cracker, Butthole Surfers, just off the top of my head.
All down in the park right on the river.
I can't find ANY info, much less video, of these shows.
If anybody has any video of these shows it would be great to have up on Youtube.
Anybody else have memories of these shows?
WaveFest was a lot of fun! I had forgotten about that! It was off of Romney St. wasn't it....then also at Brittlebank Park and Joe Riley Stadium. I remember it was the same weekend as the Greek Festival b/c we would usually go to the Greek Fest. first then to WaveFest.
The wavefest was cool as is the Vans warped tour that comes anually here. It's a shame it does not happen anymore , but that is because 96 wave is gone! Charleston needs another alternative station back! There is no alternative station now in Charleston, but plenty of that pop/dance/rap that is hard to listen to or tolerate. Hope they bring it back!
