Hi all South Carolinians

just have a question: We are coming from Michigan, where finding work is horrible. Supposedly Charleston area has had job growth since 2000. How do you find it there in terms of job growth? CNN said thirty something percent job growth since 2000, while Michigan is in the negative

We have been trying to get down there since last year, I finally have an interview!!!

Thanks,
Jenny

If you have an interview, why is this of a concern?

How long did it take you to procure an interview?

Do not move unless you have jobs lined up. I don't believe it is as peachy as CNN makes it sound.

Jenny,

As someone looking to relocate this summer without a job...I'd like to ask a few questions:

What type of work do you do? What avenues did you use to find openings? Are you flying down (assuming you're not within driving distance) for the interview? Did you find it difficult to obtain an interview without actually being a resident of the area?

I ask because while I feel fairly confident that my education/experience will serve me well, I don't want to make a foolish decision. I appreciate your input. Thank you.

I'm curious about what it is actually like, I know what it is like here (Michigan) and it really stinks. My husband has been out of work for 1 1/2 years now. I am hoping if we are actually down there he can do the footwork, network, etc. I have an interview for a nonprofit type job. I am in mental health, I am a limited license psychologist in Michigan which translates to a licensed professional counselor in SC. I am doing a phone interview. Nik, what type of work are you looking for? We spent all last summer trying to get jobs lined up to no avail. We weren't down in SC, but we were trying like crazy online. I had one interview out of it, through a base in Beaufort. My husband had two, but no luck.

Well I guess some of my questions were answered here. I did send a private email. Should've checked here first.
