Default The Summit in Summerville

I am interested in The Summit in Summerville. We plan to move back to the Charleston/Summerville area from Europe within a year. Can anyone tell me about this subdivision? Is there any kind of walking trail/path into other areas of Summeville from there? I've heard it was pretty isolated as far as foot or bike traffic go. I'm looking for something in Summerville within a reasonable distance to restaurants, pubs and such from home (by foot or bike) without the risk of being hit by a car! I've gotten quite used to that lifestyle here.

What you want is a mixed use neighborhood. Something that has shops and restaurants at the entrance to the neighborhood with the residential homes further back. I don't think The Summit will fit your descriptions. It sits in an area that is pretty much undeveloped around it. There is a shopping center with a grocery store nearby, but getting to it would require walking or biking on a narrow two lane road that does not have sidewalks or paths. In my opinion it would be a little dangerous. At this time there really aren't many mixed use neighborhoods in Summerville, but depending on how soon you are moving back there could be by the time you get here. There are several planned and are currently under development you might want to check out. One is called The Ponds and another not far from The Ponds that hasn't broke ground yet will be called Limehouse Plantation. Cane Bay is another large mixed-use development in Berkeley County. Daniels Orchard is another mixed-use development currently under works right now that will be very convenient to the downtown shopping areas. I'on is developing an area near The Woodland's also. I'm sure there are more I either can't remember at this time or don't know about. Just Google the one's I mentioned for more info.
