Default Where to find the best burgers in Mt. Pleasant

My brother will be helping to drive the U-Haul down later this month. He loves burgers. Where are the best burgers in Mt. Pleasant? Are the burgers at Liberty Tap Room good? I want to try that restaurant because it looks nice at night.

I've not been to Liberty. I've heard others say, and tend to agree, that when you have a bar that serves food chances are the food will not be great.

Beat me to it! That's the same way we feel. We "try" to steer clear of eating dinner at places that appear to have heavy bar traffic. A great example is Poe's Tavern over on Sullivan's Island. We might go back there for a beer some time, but food will not be on the "must have" list.

Cross over to Sullivan's Island and get a burger at Poe's Tavern. Nothing in Mt. Pleasant comes close.

Agree, a local told me Poe's burger is very good (I was telling her there is no good burger in town like In and Out in California). But, I have not personally tried.

Shem Creek Bar and Grill, oddly enough, has great burgers (odd because they're mostly seafood!).

I've also had a great burger at LongHorn in Town Center, and at Long Point Grill on Long Point Road.

Home is where the best burger is. Burgers and steaks -- best done at home -- and easy enough to do really well. I eat out for all the stuff I can't cook at home.

Amen to that, moneill! The best burgers and steaks come from home.

In a former restaurant that I owned I cooked both burgers and ribeyes just like I cook at home for myself. They were pretty darn good if I do say so myself We didn't grind our own burger, but we did buy it fresh from the Mom & Pop grocery across the street about 3-5 times a week. Ribeyes, I peeled and cut whole loins myself...simple seasoning and a char grill was all it needed. MMMmmm good!

I'd like to say sorry to everyone who likes Poe's burgers. Don't sweat our attitude of the place. We have come to learn we rarely like the "popular" spots around. I don't really know why that is, but it seems that's the way it works for us. We really aren't trying to be dissenters...seriously! With Poe's I would have rather had a plain bun than what they are using...and I just don't like a baseball shaped burger. Everyone likes something different. We do hear really good things about them.

I agree! I don't really like restaurant burgers, since they seem to want to make them monstrous sized, and I don't like them too big. I only grill rib eyes (now I'm starving!), and the only time I've ever ordered a steak that turned out better than home cooked was a Ruth's Criss, and that was because it was a higher grade of meat than I can ever find. And the cost made it hard to really enjoy.

I will order chops in restaurants on occasion, because for some reason I can never get them to turn out just right.
