I liked the Mills House Hotel downtown. They did an article on it in Southern Living a number of years back. Our room had a little balcony, and the french doors to it, we just left open the whole time we were there.

I have stayed at the Mills House Hotel too, it's very very nice. They have a nice pool area. Best part, is 82 Queen, restaurant and bar, are on the side street, and you can eat outside in the garden, gorgeous.

The Charleston Place is very nice. Stay at the club level. It's worth it.

We were in Charleston last week and stayed at the HarborView Inn on Vendue Range. It is located right across from the harbor park area and easy to walk to anywhere in the historic district. The hotel offers free continental breakfast delivered to where you want it: your room, atrium or rooftop deck. Hot coffee, tea, fruit and M&M's are available 24/7 in the atrium. In the afternoons there is wine and cheese and in the evening is cookies and milk. Very quiet nice hotel. We had the kids w/ us and they did great and got a little spoiled . The rooms are VERY nice but some don't have a great view as the way the architecture of the past was done but that was no big deal to us. Some rooms look out to the front while others can look to the harbor w/ a small balcony.
