I can deal with most bugs.....the one I hate the most is a tick followed by the flea....are both these critters hanging out in the charleston area in large numbers?

Sand fleas yes, but unless you are hanging out in the forest you won't see very many ticks...

Tom, are there ticks in South Carolina that can transmit lyme disease to dogs? My dog had lyme disease a couple years ago and it came back once. We like to take her walking in wooded areas, so that is a concern.

Yes, but once again as long as you stay away from wooded areas you are fine.

Get flea and tick collar, drops or spray...

Tom...if they're going to walk in wooded areas, they may (like ME!) discover a new bug for the list - CHIGGERS!

Yeah that is yet another one to consider, but as long as you stay to trails you should be ok..

My neighbor is from Ct. and her dog has had Lyme Disease 3 times. Nothing here, but then she doesn't go into the woods.

Had our hound dog down in December and he was a buffet for the ticks, changed his medication before our last visit in March/April and he didn't pick up any ticks or fleas on that visit. He's always heading into the underbrush looking for rabbits that don't exist.
