Default Possible move to South Carolina -- Is Summerville very religious?

Hello All---
I hear South Carolina is a pretty religious state...is it true and what about in Summerville? Are you frowned upon if you don't attend church?

I assume your from California "DisneyFan". I hear NC is more like that than SC is. Are you religious and don't attend -or- just not religious?

Pretty much any Southern state is going to be religious, but no one will throw eggs at your house if you don't go to church. But understand that church-going is just a way of life for us Southerners.

I've lived here six years and actually envy the dedication most folks have to numerous religious sects. I wish I grew up here and felt the same respect for organized religion as many folks from here. If they like you, they will invite you...it is a very social event in addition to the religious aspect. Some actually spend most of the day there, you's probably make more friends more quickly but they won't hold it against you if you don't go. We love it here and don't happen to go. 54% of South Carolinians are no longer from South Carolina so you'll just "blend"...best of luck to you, hope you love it as much as we do...

Just search the forum for information on this. Every now and then someone will post that they are "concerned about religion." Personally I would rather live in a area with a church community than without one.

Id personally be more concerned about crime or schools than.. ...religion. Do you really fear a band of people coming to your home with lanterns and pitchforks inquiring as to why you werent in church that morning?
