Last night for the first time since living in Summerville, I got a whiff of the mill! Must have been the wind - it was late in the evening and took me totally by surprise.
I smelled it as well in Summerville a few nights ago. However, I also catch that smell when I drive down North Rhett from the weapons station. The smell is similar to the mill, but I'd agree that it is the swamp/marshland that is all around the area. If you have ever been to Magnolia Plantation, their marshlands have that same smell.

Wow - I really thought it was the mill. Our first home in Summerville was extremely close to the plantations and I honestly never smelled it out there on 61. Developing Westcott must have stirred up quite a bit of "gunk".

it's in the ground right there at westcott, there's many current lawsuits going on over it... benzine or something in the ground?? I forgot... but it's in the soil in that area... it isn't the "swamp" you're smelling, it's an old landfill
