green peanuts? I've cooked more peanuts that I can remember... used to grow about an acre of jumbos every year just for myself

2lbs? put about 1/4 can in, add some cracked or red pepper too...

most of it won't soak in until after you cook them and let them soak in the pot for a little while... green peanuts sometimes take a really long time to cook depending on where they came from, cook them for a couple of hours and check one... add time as needed until your desired tenderness, soak until you're happy with how salty it taste...

I usually put a little hot sauce in the water too, whatever your favorite is.

I love boiled peanuts but have never cooked them. A friend from California was visiting and I bought some boiled peanuts from a roadside stand for her to try. She looked at me shaking her head and asked 'how can you people do this to a peanut?"

I'm not a fan of boiled peanuts, but fried peanuts are great! Has anyone ever fried their own peanuts?

carolinajack My family always did that too. I never saw anyone cook them indoors until I was grown. Every family cookout someone would have a big pot on a propane cooker sitting under a shade tree or the carport with a cooler of beer within arms reach. AHHHHHHH.
