I saw at least one listing under $225K in Planters Pointe. That is short money for a very nice neigberhood. Well located, well upkept, great amenities.

I would advise Planters Pointe and Park West especially if you have a few nippers.

Wow - thanks for the many replies. Yes, seeking a single-family; should have mentioned that in my initial post. Probably won't be moving for a couple of years and realize prices will fluctuate by then. Perhaps go as high as $235K.

Not really interested in Summerville. I'm a beach person, lived by the sea most my life, hence the move to MtP. Is there a map anywhere on-line that shows the sections of MP? Park West, etc..? Just trying to get my bearings before we visit. Thanks again.

May want to look at the James Islad John's Island area, less expensive and close to the beach......

Summerville is only 35~45 minutes to the beach though....

The whole picture could change in a couple of years...interest rates, your job status, prices...

BUT....when looking include houses at least $25,000 more than your budget. With today's market -- the most important thing for a home seller is a SERIOUS buyer ..when a serious offer comes in -- a smart seller should be willing to play. So many houses on the market, a seller may take lots less.......

Don't discount a town house -- it's a great way to get into a market...and often the locations, design, etc. are just as good as a single family home in the same price range. We started in the town home market 23 years ago and worked our way up.....

James Island would be a great alternative....

New Guy, basically the answer to your question is YES !!

When you get here or before your Realtor can provide you with specifics of Condo/ Townhouse / Single Family, etc. I handle the sale of Fannie Mae Foreclosures and just listed two under $125k that are both really nice condos and have a nice townhome and a single family in Rivertowne that are coming on the market soon. All are in excellent condition or being put in that condition to sell.

There are deals to be found right now, the sooner the better as inventory is shrinking quickly.
Good Luck & Have Fun !!
