Default Utilities....

I'm considering a move around June of 2008. For those of you that rent apartments, on average what do your monthly electric bills look like when the weather is really hot? I'm trying to price out apartments and trying to factor in the unincluded utility costs.

They look the same during colder weather. They just have bigger numbers on them.

C'mon man. She needs actual numbers so she can figure out a budget for living there. I'm curious about the numbers myself. And what does an average 1br/studio apt. cost?

Your electric bill will increase by about 50% during June, July and August, and by maybe 25% during January when you have to run the heat 24/7. So it depends on what electric company you use, but I would estimate that your electric for a small apartment would be about $75-$100 per month, on average, depending on how cold you keep it and what other things you use like tv, stereo, etc.

As far as the cost of an apartment- that really depends on the neighborhood/area. If you're brave, and don't mind gunshots and police sirens you can live cheap for about $300/mo. If you want somewhere safe and quiet it will be $500-$800 per month.
