Tradesman or DIY fanatics.
I happen to be an electrician in the UK and am currently waiting for my green card.
I don't want to sound like a baby, but we don't have any poisonous spiders or snakes in the UK and I was wondering what you would do when you have to go into lofts or put your hands into the voids in the ceiling and under the floor boards.
Please don't tell me that your not scared of spiders because I don't like them so that won't help me.

Yep, mothballs work great. There's also quite a few products available, lke snake-away that can be put around the base of the home, edge of the proeprty. A lot of new construction homes can also come with built-in in-wall insect treatments, etc.

Thanks for all of your replies, but I was hoping that a tradesman could tell me what he does on a day to day basis to avoid these pests.
You see we (tradesman) have to go into lofts and put our hands into ceiling voids and the thought of doing that and something biting me scares the sh*t out of me.
So please tradesman speak up.

It would be a rare occurrence that you found yourself in that situation.

Don't they make rubber/leather gloves & boots for this reason? I'd say invest in a pair of those and maybe stick something in there before you stick your hand in.

That's why God made sticks. Let the snakes and spiders go after them.
