Default Noisette/ Oak Terrace Preserve/ Mixson

This board has been so helpful, so I'd like to see if anyone has updates on the Noisette project. I've been reading online about Oak Terrace, Mixson, Magnolia, etc., but most of the information is in the form of press releases from Noisette, which have a somewhat unrealistic sounding optimism to them. Is this all too good to be true?

Anyone have objective input on the timeline and current status of these projects? My husband and I are planning to visit Charleston in a couple of weeks to look around...is this area worth a look yet or are we years away from another I'on project?

In my experience with the Park Circle area (which I just love), I think the bulk of the Noisette project still looks to be a few years off. There are already some new construction homes throughout Park Circle, and down towards the Preserve and Old Village. Plenty of recent renovations of older homes in Park Circle, Oak Park and Cameron Terrace are helping to add to the neighborhoods, and the recent development of the downtown part of Old Village is very nice.

As far as it feeling like completed project, yes, I think that's still years off. I still think it's a terrific neighborhood now, though. It just might not be what you're looking for if you're comparing it to I'on, or Daniel Island at the moment.

I have a house under contract at Mixson and am excited about the project!

Site work for the first sub-phase (29 total units) is complete and construction on my home will begin in the next month or so.

I'On Build (the company building the homes in Mixson) will be constructing the homes with the same AAC block they used on the canal homes in I'On. If you haven't seen AAC block before, it is pretty neat- lightweight concrete block. Also, they are aspiring for LEED certification on each of the homes and is being considered the second largest LEED-H project in the US (the neighborhood will have 950 units).

If you get a chance, I'On Group opened an information office on East Montague by EVO Pizza and M I X S O N has lots of information (even 3-D fly videos).

Hope this information helps!
