This may no longer be the case, but historically the South Windermere area of West Ashley has been a popular area for Jews. And it is a nice area, albeit the homes are older. Very convienent to downtown & Folly Beach.

That's a really nice area, so walkable, close to the Greenway, Folly, Downtown. We live pretty far out and far from it, but South Windermere is super nice.
You should definitely check it out if that's in your budget (wasn't in ours)!
There are some really solid neighborhoods within a couple of miles of the JCC in West Ashley, if you're looking for names. A bit farther away Wesapee Plantation is also good, as is South Windemere and the others near it. An inside I-526 only list would be huge.
We are a family of 5 considering relocation to Charleston, South Carolina area. When considering what we want in a place to live, SC came up as a good fit for us. Weather, beaches, cost of housing to name a few. Being from the West Coast, I know nothing of the South.
We are Jewish (conservative/reform) and my husband is originally from Israel. How will my husband be accepted and are there other Israelis in the Charleston area?
We have been looking at Summerville but also really like Mt. Pleasant. Which area is better suited for a Jewish family? (i.e. synagogue, other Jews)
My 15 year old son is an avid soccer player so we would want to be close enough to Battery Park to watch the games. Is Summerville too far?
Thanks for your advise!
Charleston historically was one of the biggest Jewish Meccas in the USA and the world since early colonial times. The culture of the region and dialects and accents are said to have significant influence and contributions from the historic traditional Sephardi Jewish communities that have always lived there

We are a recently retired Jewish couple from south Florida and have decided to buy a K. Hovnanian home at the Lakes at Cane Bay (Summerville, SC 29483). There are a few synagogues in the nearby Charleston/ Mt. Pleasant area and we'll join one. While we'll enjoy making new friends of many, we're looking forward to also forming friendships with other new Jewish neighbors.
If you're 55+ (younger, too) and considering a move to this area, we encourage you to let us know, as we will be forming a 'Shalom Y'all' Club as soon as we're officially residents.
Read over my posts if you wish.
Moved to MP soon to be 7 years ago now and total win-win
(we attend functions at Chabad here in MP, plenty of Israeli's for your hubby)
Does anyone know what the population of Jewish people are living Daniel Island?
