The new Shem Creek waterfront Park was dedicated today in the town of Mt.Pleasant. I attended the opening ceremonies and took a number of photos and a video of the new park. Here is a link to a slide show of the photos that I took that I would like to share with forum members.

Great pictures Joe! I can't wait to go there this weekend. I think I read somewhere online that the park will be open until midnight. That will be really cool to go there at night. Silly question because I really don't know....are there alligators in the marsh area? I haven't seen any since moving here.

Alligators do not like salt water, they tolerate brackish but tend to stay away from salt....

Almost forgot to comment on the park itself....

Yet another 'Waterfront Park', how many is that now?

"Waterfront Parks" I think this makes two is that not correct? There are other green spaces, but this answer is in reference to your quoted question.

We happen to love the public green spaces & waterfront access in Mount Pleasant. It almost sounds as if you think there is too much? I can name three waterfront green spaces off the top of my head. Wondering where the fourth is?

EDIT: The three I'm thinking of right now are the Memorial Waterfront Park, the new Shem Creek Waterfront Park, and the Pitt Street Bridge which I consider a waterfront park even though it is not listed as such.

FURTHER EDIT: Are you counting the Palmetto Islands County Park? I was only considering the parks instituted by the Town of Mount Pleasant.

Default waterfront park

Very nice you got a new park in Mt.P.
The nicest waterfront park in Charleston, is just that Waterfront Park in Downtown Charleston.
