I think they have been "embedding" some of the new plazas very well. It's interesting.

There's still a big forest not too far from here...

But consider me on the side that says looking like Hilton Head isn't worth the inconvenience.

It seems the requirement was on oversight anyway as it was originally meant to be deleted in July 2011. I hope they bring some nice big box stores. A Costco and Best Buy would be excellent.

Don't hold your breath just yet, but you may be getting your wish.

I know the folks at the largest franchise group in this area. I know that they hold additional licenses to open new stores and I know they own a particular piece of property in the northern MtP area. They have been looking for other property in MtP for a couple of years as the property they own didn't seem ideal at the time.

That piece of property is currently being cleared. I have no idea if they sold it and someone else is clearing it, or if they are clearing it for a new restaurant.

If I see any clues, I'll let you know.

Is that property at 17 & S. Morgan? I noticed they've been clearing it out lately.

Any update on this??? We relocated here from Texas and wish the area had more big box stores. I'm surprised y'all don't have a Lifetime Fitness, Costco or Best Buy. The area has so much potential to GROW and be GREAT!

It feels like the entire area is over capacity. I don't understand why people fight stuff like this... It's almost as if they don't want growth and jobs. Why?

The stretch along 41 is prime stuff with all of those people in Dunes West and Park West. Mow the weeds and buy up the shacks. I would definitely pay $60 a month or more for a nice gym along that road. Maybe a Lifetime or LA Fitness sized place? Maybe even put in another Best Buy along 41? Also, I would widen 41 to two lanes both ways. It's too small for the amount of people in the area.

As far as 41 goes I've got 2 words for you..'heir land'. It's hard to buy land when 20 diff family members own it and all don't agree on selling. I agree with everything you said but the commercial development will be on 17 not 41. Think about logistics too, getting an 18 wheeler up 41 to deliver product isn't happening.

I don't think Best Buy is expanding their stores, I think they are looking to close some of them. It doesn't take long to get to North Charleston or West Ashley from Mount Pleasant.

In my view Mount Pleasant has one of the highest densities of big box stores in the state so I don't see what the problem is with a few more. Doesn't seem like it would change the vibe of the area much.

Never understood why people had complaints about driving 20-30 mins to Costco. It's not exactly one of those stores where you shop at regularly.
