And it's really not a bad drive from Mt. P... I couldn't see Costco or Sam's putting two stores in the Charleston metro area.

I don't care if it's once a month I would prefer a Costco in Mt P over having to drive 30 mins to one. Round trip that's an hour in the car that I would trade for the 'perceived' problems the store might bring closer to home.

Costco here does get crowded, especially on Saturdays. I go in there a lot and there's many people from Mt. P in there. There's people that go there from as far as Walterboro.

Sam's Club or BJ's would be a decent fit for Mt. Pleasant. Sam's in North Charleston is almost always crowded. People go to Centre Pointe from miles around because of the outlets, and hit Sam's on the way.

If they put 2 walmarts in mt p less than 15 miles apart on the same hwy I'm pretty sure they would put a sams in if the town let them. I'm sure Costco, SAMs, depot etc are chomping at the bit to get in mt p

EVERY Sam's / Costco I've seen has been within a mile or so of an interstate highway. You may be waiting a while...

I always said the same thing about Cracker Barrel and then bam, they opened one in Mt P. It's like these retailers are lusting after the Mt P dollars. SO ready to move to the country now! I'm not comfortable in all of this suburbia. Last year here (daughter's senior year) and then we're off to privacy and open space!

I can understand the Cracker Barrel - those I normally spot near strip malls and the area is thick with those. The Sam's Costco being located near interstates I think is a function of ease of access by customer and truck traffic. The hwy 17 cluster f*k, especially outside of hwy 41 is not conducive to that.

You will be comfortable in suburbia so long as you conform, and you WILL conform!

I know of Sams and Cracker Barrels, outside of MtP, not even remotely close to an interstate...like an hour or more away.

I'd like to know where the Hwy17 cluster fart is?

Brother...

Never!!! I'm way too country and much too redneck to ever spend too much time in suburbia. The things we do for our kids.

I've lived in plenty of places where SAMs and Costco were nowhere near a hwy or interstate. Also. Not sure how outside 41 on 17 is a cluster. It's actually smooth sailing after 41. For that matter after the widening 17 in mt p is the only smooth sailing part of 17. Much faster to travel than savannah hwy now. You can get from the ravenel bridge to iop connector in less than 10 min.
