Being a veteran myself, I appreciate this post as much, if not more than anyone else reading these forums and I want to take a second to thank you personally for taking the time to post it and show some appreciation for the soldiers and veterans we are lucky to have ...

But I just want to point something out that I pointed out to a buddy the other day (I posted about the incident in the take care of your pets thread ...

Do you realize that at just 70% humidity with a temp of 98, that puts the heat index (the 'it feels like' -index) at 134 degrees. And around here the humidity gets ALOT ( <-see what I did thar .. LOL) higher than 70% around here.

Makes ya think

We appreciate the post too. My husband saw this on Facebook a few days ago and had a chuckle over it. He said that even with all his gear on he was more comfortable in the Iraq summer sun than a hot humid South Carolina summer. He did say that he'll gladly take the heat here as long as no one is shooting at him.

I must confess, I lifted that from Facebook myself

Please thank your husband for his service from me, as well. And to all the military families here at home. I can't imagine the strength and prayers it must take not to worry your head off every minute when your man is deployed.

Do Southerners ever use the expression "go South"?
