I agree that he is really creepy also. I'm really glad that didn't become a popular Christmas idea until my kids were past the age of interest. I'm not completely sure I understand the whole concept behind the elf on the shelf but from what I do understand it all just seems a little weird to me.

Have any of you ever been to the holiday Festival at the family Circle cup on Daniel Island? I have to drop my kids off in Charleston early tomorrow for some jingle Bell run and I thought I would kill some time on Daniel Island. Does anyone know if this is worth going to?

It's supposed to be a tangible way for kids to know that Santa is watching... there's a book that comes with the elf that explains everything. The elf "flies" back to the North Pole every night to report to Santa about how good or bad the kid is during the day, and finds a new place to land every morning, so for the kids finding the elf in the morning is like a little treasure hunt. It's not my favorite thing to see our elf hanging around the house all day, but when my 5-year-old finds her elf and screeching with excitement every single morning it's worth it.

I want to try Troubadours one day- I've heard lots of good things. Doesn't help that I'm in West Ashley and when I'm in Mt. P to run or coach, most places are closed (early in morning + late in evening).

That Elf is so creepy! I'm sure my parents are glad we didn't have that when I was a kid, but I think the parents have more fun with it than the kids putting it crazy places and doing weird things with it. It looks like a Christmas version of Chucky to me.
