The good news is if you like walking late at night you don't really have to worry about snakes or alligators out on the sidewalks. The like to be tucked into their beds pretty early.

I'm fairly indifferent to snakes, but yesterday a pair were sunning themselves on my front stoop. When startled they slithered up the wall and under my siding. For some reason I am cool with them hanging out in the shrubbery but not so much in the walls, even if it's just exterior siding. Ick.Ick ick ick!
If they want to be in the house I sure would appreciate them kicking in for part of the mortgage.

OK, I am a bit freaked out by the palmetto bugs, moreso by the black widows.... we'll see. My first encounter with palmetto bugs was when we rented a house on Bald Head Island, NC. Absolutely gorgeous.

One night I was in the kitchen and a palmetto bug flew out of nowhere and them onto the counter. I still can feel it when I remember it. Before leaving for the trip I had read about the island and the palmetto bugs. One guy said he and his wife had rented on Bald Head and were his wife was so freaked out by the palmetto bugs in the house they had to leave.

The morning after my palmetto bug incident, I came downstairs early in the morning, it was still dark, and saw all these dark spots all over the dining room table. I screamed, and my husband ran down and turned on the light. We both cracked up laughing when we saw that they were not palmetto bugs, but were the knots in the knotty pine wood of the table!!

Anyway, does anyone have pictures of Summerville downtown (and other areas) that they can post?

So I have to ask .... if I'm outside on my own property and I come across a rattler ..... or a gator going after one of my cats .... is there a law against shooting it?

There is what is called a nuisance law, where if they are withing 100' of your house and making a nuisance of themselves, like eating one of your cats, you can kill them....

You won't catch them going after your cat they are too fast it will be past tense by the time you get there, gators prefer dogs anyway.....

Can you elaborate on this 'nuisance law' and maybe site your source, please, OTC?

Would it include unleashed, untagged, uncollared dogs and cats?

Go to Charleston ,,,MUSC!

We actually preferred Roper St Francis over MUSC. We found MUSC to be all Chiefs, no Indians, and somewhat impersonal.

We avoided East Cooper for as their billing/collections were a nightmare.
