There have been a lot of rumblings that the Carrier Classic, the basketball tournament games on aircraft carriers that match two of the nation's top teams, will be headed to the U.S.S. Yorktown on Patriots' Point for November 9 this year.

After San Diego had another commitment for the game, they turned to Charleston. They are preparing to sign a contract. This game last year got huge national attention because of the NBA lockout, airing live on ESPN.

The UConn men (the national champs of 2010-11) will be a part of it, and there are six other teams interested in playing them, including Duke, Arizona and Kansas.

The Notre Dame women (including Twitter star Skylar Diggins) would play Ohio State.

Anything to keep Patriot's Point and the Yorktown funded would be welcome. This seems like a great event, and could certainly help the area.

Only 4,000 seats will be accommodated at the Yorktown. Could be a very tough ticket if it happens.
