We are relocating to London, UK and we are planing on selling all of our appliances and a lot of our furniture. We live in Snee Farm and we cannot put signs in our neighborhood. What is the best way to advertise this upcoming yard sale?

Thanks

As I'm a huge yard sale and Craigslist shopper, I would only offer this advice. When you list on there, include pictures. 9 times out of 10, I will only hit up the ones that offer pictures because then I can see what I'm going for and whether it will be worth my time or not.

Put an ad in the classifieds in the "Post and Courier" a day or two before with the location, time and your phone number so people can call you and you can tell them the kind of stuff you have.

Check to see if getting a permit is required. I had a yard sale several years ago in another state before moving here. I put an ad in the paper; tons of people showed up and the police came and hassled me because I didn't have a permit (which I didn't know I needed) and forced me to shut it down or come with him" down to district court". The people that had come were bummed out.(This is the kind of "freedom" we have in our "free" country.) I got a permit the next week. Had to advertise again and sold the stuff.

I would also do CraigsList since so many say it works but if you want to reach older people that don't live on their computers or constantly check Craigslist daily (which I certainly don't), do the paper as well. Put up fliers as well on community bulletin boards; at Starbucks; in the Library and Churches if you can.

Speaking of Craigslist, you may get a better price on each of your items if you bypass the garage sale and simply sell the items on Craigslist to begin with.

Hi Michael,

We have a really nice Char Broil Infrared Grill. We bough it last year (we did not know we were going to move so soon!)

Please PM if interested.
