My DH has an interview in Charleston so I am doing some basic searching online. It seems like all I find are these $$$$ Equestrian Subdivisions. Are there any good websites for the area for horse people. Websites that list horse classifieds? If we were to move we would need boarding for 2 horses, no particular type of barn, just quality care. And of course we also need access to good schools.

Not looking for actual farms for sale. We are nowhere near that. Like I said I am just trying to get a feel for the area and options while my DH explores this job. Thanks!

I'd check here first. Horse Boarding Farms in Charleston, South Carolina. Horse Ranches in Charleston, SC. Riding Stables in Charleston County, SC. - Page 1 John's Island and Summerville will have plenty of options. Unfortunately, good schools generally go hand in hand with the areas that have more residents, i.e. larger tax bases. That generally either drives up property values per acre (increasing the cost of actually owning enough land for horses), or means that most rural areas just don't have the stellar rating for their schools.

There are a couple of places in Summerville that board horses, and I know of a few people out in Huger that board also.

The area to the west of West Ashley has a LOT of horse people, farms, etc.

And there are several nice properties for sell over there .. off Davison Rd/Parkers Ferry Rd/Tannenbaum Rd (no idea why the road changes names three times .. lol) up toward Delemar Hwy (165).

Check over there if you are able.

My boss actually lives over there and he and his wife have horses etc and are among that circle of people.

((and I'm 90% sure the area is in Dorchester District 2 school district))

It depends on where along 165, some of it is in CCSD.

Yeah .. I'm not 100% sure Tom.

I know that there is at least one of the properties for sale that even has a sign out front advertising that it is in DD2 .. located along Davison Rd/Parkers Ferry Rd/Tannenbaum Rd between Delemar Hwy and Hwy 17.

Medicine Wind in Jedburg ( 5 miles from Summerville) is a good place to board horses. If you want property to live on with the horses let me know, I have a place for sale that could work for you.
