Hi I am a single 25 year old hoping to visit Charleston this weekend to determine if it is the right place for me to move.

What places do you suggest looking at to see if its the right place for me? I would love suggestions from places to eat, areas to look into, dog friendly locations (I will be bringing my 60 lb dog with me), and maybe a local bar.

I appreciate any advice you may have.

Thanks!
Lindsay

Charleston is home now, albeit I don't get to be home much. When I'm looking for a great place to eat or have fun, I do a search on here, and use yelp.
You'll find just what you want.

Lindsay, as previously stated make sure you have employment lined up, the market is tough here....

What is your price range? What are you looking for from an area?

Go see Isle of Palms beach. Check out Seaside Farms in Mount Pleasant (especially if you're looking for a small rental condo). Then hit downtown, around the Market/East Bay, King and Queen street areas, for a tour of tons of great restaurants, pubs, historic areas, etc. If you already know where you'll likely be working, then it'll be pretty easy to narrow down to an area with an easy commute.

I am not looking to move until at least August but was looking to see if it was a place that I would be interested in, so I wanted to do some typical, low key stuff, ex. the dog park.

I haven't found a job yet but am going to start applying like crazy come June 1st, when my work schedule up here calms down.

There are plenty of dog parks to choose from! You might want to checkout the James Island County Park dog park. It's going to be pretty hot, and that one has a nice lake for the dogs to splash and keep cool in. What I don't like about it is it's so large people tend to just plant themselves on a bench and let their dogs run wild, so you want to stick close to your dog. I don't go there any longer because my dogs get bullied every time we visit, and because of their size the bullies owners tend to think its cute. I don't.
