Looking for recommendations for dog boarding. I saw some threads, but the most informative ones are about 4 years old, so I'd love some opinions.

We'd like to stay south of 26 if we can, anywhere from Charleston up to Summerville (we live in N Chas, on the Summerville border).

We've looked at Camp Bow Wow, but almost $40 a day to board is a little too steep for us.

If you've boarder your dog somewhere and loved it or hated it, I'd love to know!

Thanks so much!
Leanne

This service is not any cheaper, but IMO is a fabulous alternative to boarding. Hound Hosters

Have you checked with your vet? Some vets offer boarding services, and if not they may have a good recommendation for you that's close to home.

Wifey uses the vet in West Ashley, just off Glen McConnell. I'm sorry I'm not a poochie person so I don't know the name.
Her dog is there right now, in fact

We live in Ladson and have used the Bed & Biscuit in Goose Creek for a while. We used to go to the vet over there too but later changed that... but have been thoroughly impressed with the services there. We board our two dogs in one run and have never had a problem when we bring them home.

I used Howl-A-Day Inn on Ladson Rd years ago for a previous dog and she didn't seem to mind it. No ill effects and she was happy to see me when I picked her up.

HOWEVER...I have read some negative reviews about them from more recent years so they may have gone down hill.

That's why I was looking for a new groomer when I got my new buddy a few months ago. I wasn't too impressed with the groomer I used, they didn't do anything horrible but they cut his coat shorter than I wanted them too even though I specifically said not to cut it so short. Not the end of the world because it's been warmer than I thought it would but it's the principle of the thing.

Thanks so much for the input everyone!
I had a friend volunteer to take him in so I don't have to worry about it this time, but I'm taking notes because I know it will come up again at some point.
Went to Charleston Pet Resort today and liked them most out of the three I saw, but wasn't totally in love with any of them. (Stono River Kennel, Charleston Pet Resort and Charleston Dog House).

I am looking for a kennel too. I am glad your friend is taking yours. Do you think she would want to watch mine? Just kidding

So you liked Bow Wow the best? just too steep?
