Are all people rude in charleston ?
My vist to sc was a sad affaire . I feel to find any southern charm in the people here where when I walked pass some I worn a smile and said hello. Trolley drivers were cranky and yelled at people on the trolley. When asking a question you felt they didn't have time to answer. In the pineapple Fountain women where putting children in there with dirty diapers, women laying in the fountain with shopping bags on there head, people bumping into you Not even saying excuse you. Charleston restaurant do have great food. *shop personal unfriendly* Where people rude cause I was a out of town person?

No offense, but this is a very tough post to read. I had to read it a couple times to figure out what you were trying to say. This is not written as well as your other posts.
No, not all people in Charleston are rude. It sounds as though it was basically only the trolley driver and a few people at the fountain that were rude?

It sounds like you were at the heart of tourist central- which really is the least Charleston-like parts of town in that its a lot of tourists, transplants and borderline chains putting a Charleston face on standard tourist activites.
Sorry for your bad experiences.
I do have to laugh about the salespeople though. When we were younger one of my female friends used to get irate in half the stores on King Street because the staff seemed to feel they were above the clientele. My friend always pointed out that they were there to serve the customer... At any rate being young and simultaneously rich and broke she dedicate the following acronym to the typical King Street employee: PRB (as opposed to PBR.) It stands for pretentious retail bit**.

Charleston is well known for rudeness. I think there's even a few awards given to the city for it.

When moving here, before ever visiting, I was struck by how nice people are. I live on James Island. If you shop at Publix, you get the Publix experience. If you shop at Food Lion, your cashier may or may not speak to you. .... For the most part I feel there is a consideration of manners here in Charleston. But this is a tourist town, wedding and beach destination, major hospital located downtown, colleges, and military. <----- IMO; high stressors are possible. We never know the day someone we pass on the sidewalk may be having. But overall, I"ve lived all over the world and Charleston is considerate and friendly. My neighbor recently helped the ladies across the street move their new washer and dryer into their town home, because he was walking by with this son. What a wonderful lesson to teach his son.
As to the swimmers in the fountain, with dirty diapers.. yuck.. you can try to teach good manners, but it sticks or it doesn't.
