Anyone know the penalty for not paying your vehicle property tax on time? I know someone that is behind a few months as their sticker on license still has April 2012. If he were stopped for this, I'm thinking he may be given a ticket and fined and told to get it paid ASAP? Is that about the worst that would happen? That and probably an increase is the amt due?

...just curious

If your tag is not renewed for more than 90 days, you will have to pay an extra $75 when you go to get it. If you are stopped, you will get a ticket, but when you go to court you can show proof of paying for your new tag and they will probably not fine you.

Check this out for fees.

Does anyone know what the vehicle tax is based on? We have to get our plates switched over and I'm curious what I can expect to pay up.
Lol @ Phish and Dead stickers

@ Burton: It is based on the value of your vehicle and where you live....

@ Dudette: If it is not a renewal year, just a tax year you may pay a little bit of a late tax penalty but not a renewal penalty, if it is a renewal year it is as Mag stated, up to $75.00.

Add to it, driving around with stick people stickers. Make that an extra $75 too.

Lol @ Phish and Dead stickers
We just got a bill in the mail and it was slightly over $200. I'm not sure how they calculate it.

If you car has exessive mileage, you can appeal the amount assessed. Just make sure you do it within the month that the bill is due. Knowing this saved me $30 last year.
