The thing that confuses me most about both Cool Blow and Bee Street Lofts is that they are so frickin isolated. you have to go a block of a main road, past some low income housing in an area that is basically cut off by the current Cooper River Bridge. There is no street life or real neighborhood there. Bee Street is odder in that at first glace you would think its walkable but its bouned by a 5 lane divide road, a raised portion of the cross town expressway, a 1980 hotel and street in front of the VA that floods when someone spits too hard. You are basically 1/2 mle from any area that fits most people's definition of walkable.

I had always thought the glory of a loft was that it was a large/open space in the middle of an urban setting where that is not typical. To be honest I would actually consider the condos on either the Cooper or Ashley Rivers and redecorate to suit your aesthetic before those two complexes.

There is a mixed use deveopment going in on Coleman Blvd in Mt Pleasant that I also think is much better integrated into a community. (Many consider Mt Pleasant white bread but I actually think the part adjacent to Old village puts you in close enough proximity to the Sullivans Island Causeway and the Old Village (think fishing village) to overcome the stigma.)

You might also want to look at the Morris Square area- those never truly sold out so you should find a deal or two. The only problem would be the prospect of college kids moving in when mom or dad drops a couple hundred K for their precious spawn to lie in suitable accomodations for their 4 year bender at CoC.

look at 33-112 CALHOUN ST or 85-20,21 and 22 Cumberland. Right in the heart of everything. You could walk to tons of great restaurants and take a stroll along E bay or market st right outside your door. I'd pass on Bee st and the stuff N of marion square for now
