Rue de Jean was always one of my favorites for the food, atmosphere, and people.

@Robynn - The waitress described the oil as a 'pesto oil'; I know most other places do serve it w/herbs, maybe garlic in it.

I would suspect it was a 'take' on pesto -- using lots of dried basil and garlic flavoring, rather than just Italian herbs.

Had a 'chocolate cheesecake' at Tristan's last night. It really was a deconstructed cheesecake. There was a small bed of pistachio crushed crust with a spoon full of the chocolate/ricotta mixture and a little dollop of wild cherry sorbet. It was better than a traditional cheesecake......but really wasn't a cheesecake at all.
