We had a Burtons Grill right near our home in Massachusetts (where they are originally from) and the food is GREAT! I can't tell you how excited (and shocked) to see a Burtons being built here. Food is amazing from the bread to the seared scallops, salmon and steaks! Amazing.

Went there today - they did a nice job with the building/decorating, etc. They made a big deal about being a dietary friendly restaurant - have a vegetarian/gluten free menu, the waitress made sure to tell us if we had any dietary concerns, and that they were a 'from scratch' kitchen.

On the down side, I thought they were trying a little too hard to be very PC - the dipping oil with "pesto" they serve with the bread has no nuts in it. I had their classic burger, which is usually my way of judging a restaurant. If they can do a good burger, they've got me! It was med-rare, just as I ordered, but really had no taste to it at all. The bun was kinda thick and overpowered the burger itself. The fries that came with were very good. Hubbie had a redfish sandwich with slaw (the fish either comes fried or 'bronzed' - guess that's the new word for grilled), and though he said it was good, it fell apart as he was eating it. We spent $35 for our sammies and soft drinks.

Overall - I think they'll probably do well for the area, but I'm not sure it's for us. We kept comparing menu to Long Point Grill, and they came up short for us, both in price and offerings.

We haven't been yet, but we're looking forward to trying it. We have heard that New England clam chowder is a daily menu item, and that is something my husband has been seriously missing. The only decent clam chowder he has found so far is believe it or not, from the deli at Harris Teeter.

They serve a "redfish" sandwich...and they try to be overly PC? That's an oxymoron if there ever was one.

That's exactly what I meant - they're trying too, too hard.

The menu is uninspiring to me -- some place I may go if I happen to be passing but definitely not a 'must go' for dinner. I'm finding out I'm really picky with restaurants <G>.

We did try Hometown BBQ on Sullivan's for lunch a couple of weeks ago and we declared it a hit. Good food, great party atmosphere and of course Sullivan's Island for the location...what more could you ask for.

We tried Rue de St. Jean for dinner and were not impressed. I so wanted to really like it. The food was just okay nothing special, not a place I would make a trip back to.

Oh dear I've wandered off topic AGAIN. I talk too much!

We tried Burton's for lunch today. Great service and great food! We will be back!

Caili...I don't think the oil was supposed to have pesto in it...just spices...we've had this before with bread at other restaurants and is always been oil and spices that you dip your bread in...
