Contrail Shadow? (Charleston, Aiken: house, military, airport)

My son and I saw an interesting thing in the sky while returning from the beach. We were getting on 26 from 526 and we saw a grey beam (ground to sky). At first I thought it was some kind of vapor spout but the more I research it online....I think it may have been a contrail shadow up close and personal.... It was almost perfectly vertical and much more defined than a typical sun beam. There were no clouds above the shadow.

I know I probably sound a bit nuts to find this all that interesting and unique but it was really something I've never seen before. Does it sound like a contrail shadow to you? It was soooo defined.

That's an interesting phenomenon, I've never seen a photo of it, or even heard of it before.

I hadn't either! It looked like #3 but was straight up from the ground, no angle. There was some evidence of a jet in the sky so it makes sense but at the time I didn't put two and two together. It was also near the airport.

I can't think of what else it might have been, especially after researching it a bit. My 14 year old and I were so puzzled.

I can't think of what else it might have been, especially after researching it a bit. My 14 year old and I were so puzzled.

I'm not surprised when you have a major chemtrail testing site right here in Aiken, SC where they've been testing toxic chemtrails for years. Here is their site. Savannah River National Laboratory - Home

They've even been testing particulates to "block the sun" which may account for so many days that should have been sunny days in Charleston where the sun couldn't really fight through all the junk in the atmosphere that was probably caused by all the chemtrail spraying. I think what I saw was from an aircraft, not chemicals. The shadow from the contrail.

Are those unusual? I see them all the time here on Long Island. Well, we probably have two of the busiest airports in the country ..... but something VERY BIG and VERY LOUD flew VERY LOW over my house today and by the time I ran outside to see what the heck it was, it was gone.

Unusual for me to see. That is why I couldn't figure out what it was. I've only seen contrails but never a shadow from it.

The air force and local airport sit side by side but I've never seen a shadow from the contrail. I've seen shadows from the planes but that is it. We have quite a few military planes but our commercial airport is pretty small, in comparison. I love when I get a glimpse of the fighter jets in the air. The huge military planes still amaze me.
