Mt. Pleasant or Folly Beach-SC or AZ (Charleston, Isle of Palms: apartments, insurance)

My family and I are thinking of relocating back to the Charleston area or Arizona area (we are currently in Pennsylvania) and can't decide between the two. We really just want a good quality of live...and because we lived previously in both South Carolina and Arizona we are extra confused. Both areas have their good points...but I need help. If we move back to the Charleston area we have pinpointed either Mt. Pleasant or Folly Beach-which is better? Schools are also very important. If anyone out there can help I'd truly truly appreciate it. Thanks!

Mt. Pleasant and Folly Beach are both fantastic areas. That said, the major differences between them would be schools, price, and insurance costs.

Insurance on Folly Beach is likely to be much higher than many parts of Mt. Pleasant. Mt. Pleasant will allow you more home for your money because you're not within walking distance to the ocean, of course, but would still be under 10-15 minutes to Isle of Palms and Sullivan's beaches.

Mt. Pleasant also has some excellent schools and PLENTY of entertainment, local shopping, etc.

It really depends on what's more important to you. I think Mt. Pleasant has more to offer, but personally, I'd give up just about everything to live on the beach at Folly if I could.

I would look into South Carolina. I have lived in Arizona all my life, and we are also moving. It is very expensive for homes, even apartments are very high. If you want a new one with minimal square footage, you are looking to pay as high as a morgage. Of course there are other areas of phoenix you could look. Not to mention, it is hot as hell here. Sure the winters are nice, but the rest of the year sucks. Summer is the worse, as high as 117 sometimes higher. As for the schools, I have learned that it does not matter on the school, but the teachers. Check out this website, it will help you decide on schools in either area. GreatSchools.net

How long has it been since you lived in AZ and which part? You might want to totally re-think that.
