Food Festival is a good time... but it gets packed. If you go, my only advice is go early. When I say early, I mean plan on being there before the gates officially open. Once the early to mid 20 crowd shows up around 1pm it gets crazy.

I went to the Oyster fest last year... they truck all the oysters in from the gulf of Mexico... I have never been a big oyster fan as is, but the oysters were not very good... 2 nights after I did the Oyster fest a buddy brought over a big thing of local oysters... the difference in taste is night and day. I actually enjoyed eating the local oysters.

I prefer the gulf oysters, they're almost sweet! That being said, I grew up on the Chesapeake, so the cold-water oysters have always been my favorite. The locals are great too, they're just saltier.

Chincoteage oysters for sure. Nice singles. My favorite.

Man there's tons of traffic out there today. Is it because of the taste of charleston or is there something else going on too?

I'll definitely be there tomorrow! My husband will have a booth/tent/whatever (#37), so I'll be out there at some point to support him. I'm so excited!!!
