I looked up temporary housing and found some places but not sure what they would be like. It seems it would be about 1500 a month. How does that sound? Do most want a deposit? We are planning on or about the 15th Dec.

1500's about average for a single family house short-term rent. Most would also request a security deposit. There are certainly plenty available in the area, so it would simply depend on what you needed, and how long of a lease you were looking at.

Thanks for your input. I was checking on the storage places for cars. We are planning to come down for the pre dry wall and thought we might leave the car in a storage facility and fly home. This way, a few weeks later, we'll have only one car to get down there. I saw U-Store-It in Summerville and Shurgard Self Storage in Ladson. Has anyone ever heard of them?

Personally, I would budget $1,800 for the rental. That $300 can make a world of difference.

Also we have tons of places for car storage. We can firm it up before you get down here. There's no real hurry to make a reservation.

Check w/ Dell Webb as well to see if they have any provisions for storage.

I lived on the Cape, BUT born and raised in NY...It was the deadsox nation that drove me away

The temp housing we are doing and getting clobbered @ $2150/mo.

There's a storage place called Extra Space Storage in Goose Creek, it's exactly 9 miles from Cane Bay! AC and the 1st month is FREE...That's where my stuff is, I recommend them.

I am glad to hear that DW passed along the savings as well...You maybe in on time Stella, the weather has been unseasonably warm and this week looks rain free. Them boys get alot done in a days time! Our house now that I look back seemed to go up pretty fast. 19 DAYS and counting!!

Back to the sox (ugh)...I hope them damn nats, ants, flying teeth from Cleveland show up again and nest in Manny's dreadlocks!!! I refuse to watch a single pitch of that series! REFUSE!

Jim, you're a hockey fan right??? Well, Rangers have a big game tonight against the hated Island Girls...Lets Go Rangers!!!

It's amazing sometimes to see how fast a house come together at the end. Everything sounds good so far for you.

Do you have it independently inspected before you close? Some recommend that. Also do you have an extended new home warranty from an outside company? I know many Del Webb people that get it. It's about $600 and covers the next three years. Covers stoves, A/C, refrigerator, dishwasher, plumbing, electrical, etc.

I don't buy extended warranties on most items, cars, vacuums, etc. But I have used a home warranty personally. It can save you a lot of money. You may want to look into it.

So where did you go wrong in your NY life?

Yankees/Giants/Islanders
vs
Mets/Jets/Rangers

I thought we all signed off on that when the Islanders started.

Personally, I'll stick with the Riverdogs & Stingrays. Better seats, better people, better food, & cheap!

That's OK; we can let that slide.

HOWEVER: the "Can't beat Chicago Pizza" quote of SCDweller shows preferential treatment to his children vs his wife.

Based on that opinion, I've instituted a search of NYPD to track down his father in-law and inform him of same. I think he may want to have the marriage annulled. I think it's possible in NY, at least at St. Patricks.

Speaking of, I think we have two St. Patrick's days this year. March 15th is the papal recognized holiday, given that Easter's on the 23rd and the Vatican allows no other holiday to fall within Holy Week. So, who's celebrating their Irish heritage twice?

WOW! Hold the phone...Yanks or Tanks (lately) and Island Girls do not mix. period. and another period. !! I never jumped on the Island bandwagon back in the late 70's with Bobby Nystrom/Gillies and hacker Billy Smith...I stayed true to the Garden Blue and took defeat after defeat...Until of course 94'...Only wish I was sober enough to actually enjoy game 7 that night...
My parents abandoned me and our NYR season tix when the isles came to town, I will never switch...Its almost like rooting for the redsox. ewww...
So Rangers/GMen/Tankees and who cares about hoop! UConn Huskies College if I had to pick...

Well good luck to ya tonight, I hope the poundings not too bad they we put on the "other" NY team, that who by the way have chearleaders!!!

We are in the Coastal series. The reduction was just for that series. I think they treat the 3 series differently. I corresponded with someone who bought over the phone aboout a month age. She bought in the Seaside series (?) and got great incentives, so she couldn't refuse. I think the incentives were in the series that weren't selling as fast.

DJ..., Jim...Pok... Does anyone have any advice on whether to store my furniture here (Cape Cod) and then deliver it when the house is completed or bring it down there and store there?
