I have to agree with scjj about the route in from The Ponds to Charleston. We live off of Central Ave, not too far away from The Ponds, and my husband takes 61 into Charleston every morning during rush hour. It takes him about 40-45 min with traffic. And even less time returning after 6 pm. However, at night it's a dark, narrow, winding road that takes some time to get used to. Personally, I think it's a fun challenge and it definitely keeps me alert!

You would take Orangeburg Rd to get onto 61. It's very close by.

As far as Mt Pleasant is concerned, I really don't like the amount of traffic there at all. Our friends who live there complain about the congestion all the time.

However, Summerville has more traffic now than when I moved here a year ago so congestion is creeping up here too.

My point is there isn't an absolutely perfect area, but show me a place that is. We all have to pick the area that suits us individually, and that can only be done by seeing these areas for yourself in order to make those decisions.

IMO Summerville needs a facelift. The main st area would be much nicer if they restored some of those buildings and maintained the grounds a little better. Some landscaping would have been nice.

Not trying to offend anybody, just giving my opinion. Summerville wasn't for me.

I have lived in Orlando, Atlanta and Charlotte and they all have areas that don't resemble Main Street USA at Disney. But for the most part they are bocoming indistiguishable from one another.

However, this area is probably less like these newly sanitized and becoming-generic cities in that it still has some of it's own personality. I like it here!

Not trying to offend either, it's a matter of taste!

I agree that it's a matter of taste, and I like it here, too.

And I try to keep in mind that you can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time.
