Daniel Island (Charleston: how much, homes, schools)

I was hoping to get some information on how affordable is Daniel Island and what sort of schools they have to offer.
A few weekends ago, we went to Charleston to check out the area and had the pleasure to drive trhough Daniel Island.
We went through one of the subdivisions with planatation style homes and had no idea/clue as to how much those would cost and what sort of living one can hope for there. The homes were beautiful and the community seemed very nice.
Any ideas? What is an average home price on Daniel Island? We were hoping to find something in the range of high 300s to mid 400s.

Daniel Island is a fantastic area of the lowcountry. Homes start at high 200's/low 300's and then move up to well over $1million. The majority of homes there are in the $400k-600k range, with plenty of styles to offer.

We are moving to the Charleston area and my wife and I have been curious to learn were Charleston gets their drinking water. Living currently in Michigan, fresh water is one resource we have plenty of. Does Charleston risk a similar shortage of fresh water similar to that of Geogia of Florida?
