Six flags? Atlanta zoo? Where do the locals go for their amusement and zoo fixes?

I go to the Zoo park in NC, Asheboro is the town...

Columbia has a small zoo as does Greenville.

Carowinds in Charlotte or Myrtle Beach for amusements...

And it is still tiny compared to places like Asheboro, Philly, Atlanta, DC, etc...

I would not put it any where near the top in the country, it is barely top in SC....

Interesting as I've been to the Philly, Pitts, and Baltimore zoos...

Anything regarding the zoo in Savanna or even trekking to Atlanta, Charlotte (does Charlotte even have one)?

Charlotte doesn't have one that I know of, they have a small rescue type place there for big cats I think but not a real zoo....

I just did some searching and it looks like Riverbanks zoo is on the top ten list but more for price than appearance, I have visited just about every zoo between Fl and Nj and there are much better and nicer ones.....

They have the Cape May county park on their list at #3, it isn't even a zoo and it was rated higher than Riverbanks because it is free...

The Atlanta Zoo is not big but it's a lovely setting and just about the right size. Atlanta has a Six Flags as well. Best thing -- the Aquarium in Atlanta. Not as good as an oceanside Aquarium but it is beautiful.......that tunnel is stunning. Then you can do the World of Coke too.

Atlanta is about four and a half hours away.

No zoo in Charlotte. But they about an hour north of Charlotte is the Lazy 5 Ranch. Its a drive through type animal park or you can ride a horse drawn carriage. Kids love it. As mentioned the NC Zoo in Ashboro is also a nice one. Its spread out and you can spend all day there.

Love Lazy 5 Ranch - it's in Mooresville. I wouldn't drive from Charleston to go there though.

If you are going as far as Atlanta.... Orlando is only 6 hours away. Don't even need to get started on all the attractions there...

Universal Studios, Islands of Adventures, Magic Kingdom, Seaworld, Epcot, MGM studios, Discovery Cove, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Wet 'n Wild...

I could keep going but just named the larger attractions.

Now that you guys bring it up... I might try and talk the wife into a quick weekend trip to Seaworld, my 2.5year old will love it.
