Let me know.
Well. Wanting to stay in the Charleston area, it was really a process of elimination. I don't want to live in Downtown Charleston, this I know for sure. I'm not interested on living on the coast or an island for an everyday type of home. North Charleston is out for quite a few reasons.

I saw a few of cheap homes in Summerville that looked good and then I found a few homes that were definite possibilities. That with the info I got on the school districts and shopping around those areas those were of the most interest at the time of the original posting. As I've mentioned, I'm in Real Estate in California, so I will be learning a whole new bag of tricks in South Carolina. But, I can work anywhere once I get there. My boyfriend will be working in radio around the city and my parents are both business owners so they don't have to worry about that either!

When I get there, I'm sure some new areas will open up to me and I'll be able to look into them more in depth.

What made you ask?

I should be there hopefully in December sometime. I will definitely give you a holler and maybe we can hook up, go antique shopping and get some good breakfast!

I asked because I rarely hear people that are relocating choose Goose Creek & Summerville without mentioning Mt. Pleasant & West Ashley as well.

Although Goose Creek & Summerville have similar feels, MTP & W.A. are definitely worth looking at.

What else would you like to live around?

I did look a little bit at MP and WA but because I felt like they were so well represented here, I only asked about GC and SV.

And I will definitely keep them in mind.

I would like:
To live around a body of water that I can boat in.
A family friendly area, even though at this time I do not have children I am trying to think of the future.
Preferably, all the houses will not look exactly the same in the neighborhood. Some personality and charm would be very important.
Close enough to Charleston that it is a reasonable drive even if one of us had to do it daily.
At least 4 bedrooms with a yard big enough for an in ground pool and an area for dogs/kids. If it had a finished basement, that would be perfect.
Safety is important, and I do realize that crime exists everywhere. But, I certainly don't want to be anywhere that there is a stigma of crime or problems with safety.
Good variety of restaurants, upscale and everyday dining.
Entertainment, movie theater, a club, a music/concert venue, shopping, flea markets etc.

That's about all I can think of. For the most part we are home bodies. So we will spend a lot of time at home with family and friends visiting. But, we would certainly love to be close to the things mentioned.

Like I said, my significant other is a musician and I am a Realtor here. He will be going into radio or recording studios for employment and I haven't got a clue what I'm going to do! We love art, music, and spending time with our dog....

Just a couple of kinda boring twenty-somethings!

Charleston has a rush hour, but they've got nothing on California's problem with congestion, SWEET RELIEF. They don't have ANTHROPOLOGIE or Sephoria, but thank god for the internet. They do have some cute shopping in the Downtown areas, and there is gulp, just one Whole Foods, but the place is growing and the people are FRIENDLY! Please email Trader Joe's to beg them to come here. I do it once a week.

Ok, Goose Creek, Um, not to hurt anybody's feelings in Goose Creek, but OC Girl, that area might not be for you. I found North Charleston towards Summerville to be pleasant. Charleston doesn't have the same architecture that we're used to (no Spanish Hacienda's or Mid Century Modern Case Study Homes, BIG SIGH), but they have loads of new homes in a price range that is STELLAR! My home in LA was 923 sq ft, sold for $520,000. I bought a house in a subdivision (that's what they call it here) that was 400 more sq ft, and just six years old for $165,000. The hood' Whitehall Plantation. Still learning the lay of the land, as it's been just 6 weeks (09/12/07), don't know a SOUL (hey peeps in Charleston feel free to invite me to a party), but so far so good.
Hey Melindaw. I was reading some of the things various people wrote on here from awhile ago. Do you still like Goose Creek? How have your feelings changed since moving there? I was looking into moving to S.C. The family I am closest to lives in Moncks Corner. I wanted to know if the teaching jobs pay anything for me to buy a home in one of the developments that have beautiful homes. Can I survive on the income down there. I hear the cost of living is cheaper but taxes are on everything and if the job does not pay anything then it seems as if it totally defeats the purpose of me moving from Philadelphia, Pa. to the state. My family is always encouraging me to come but I do not want to live with anyone with me two children. I want to be in peace, enjoy the wonderful weather, see more wildlife and not worry about how I will pay the bills. Please respond. Nikki72fly
