I know this is off subject,(crab dip) but someone asked and I can't remember what thread it was on...but LIVE Crawfish came in to Sellsfish today, first shipment since last summer. I know there have been people looking for them on this forum.
Yeah, finding hot crab dip like in Maryland is rare in SC. Try the above recommendations. I'm way too busy to franchise another Shymansky's Seafood Restaurant, but if I do, it'll have steamed crabs (by the dozen and all-u-can eat) and hot crab dip.
We'll be first in line - we miss our Maryland crab dip and steamed crabs!
That is one reason why I only buy fried oysters out; I won't fry at home. I do prefer to cook my seafood at home, as well. I've never tried to make a crab dip...I probably should. My taste is more geared toward New England seafood. I typically make seafood at home once a week...lobster, steamers or scallops.
Does she start with live crab or does she buy picked or frozen crab?
The Marina Variety Store on Lockwood has some really great Folly river crab dip (and beer bread) as well as views of the marina itself while eating. Not many go there as it's far beyond the areas frequented by tourists but it's by far my favorite seafood place in Charleston.
Patti, besides the New England seafood, such as steamers, quahogs, mussles, lobster, cod, scallops....they (Sellsfish) also stock some Rhode Island favorites. Eclipse coffee syrup, Kenyon clam cake mix, Del's mix, Krispee New England seafood batter...etc. I think there is a photo of it on his Facebook page.
Now if he could only get some 'Proper' NE Hot Dog Buns!!!
