Default Looking for an Angel...

My husband and I live in a very beautiful coastal New England town that we adore. So our hearts are torn with the idea to relocate South. We lived in the Richmond area in the '90s and loved the south. We moved back north when we started having children - to be near family again only to realize that we don't see them very often anyway...

Even though we love our town (we live 3 miles to the waterfront), we keep feeling the pull to move back south. The high cost of living has made me return to work full-time while I stuggle with not being as available for my 3 children. We also miss the longer seasons for warm weather.

I've been monitoring the Charleston market for 2 years now, and am impressed with the affordability of the homes and the variety of family neighborhoods around. And since we are used to living near the coast, we would like to stay within 30 minutes to the waters edge. So I've narrowed it down between Summerville, Goose Creek & Mt. Pleasant.

Here's my dilema. I feel like God is pulling us in this direction, putting a move in our hearts. However, at this stage, my concern is finding comperable employment again.

Can anyone recommend a good site to visit that would have local builders in the area - for employment? I am a Realtor with new construction experience with a builder in a master plan community. My husband is a General Contracter with building experience.

Has your housing market slowed down? Or are your builders still building and selling?

Thank you for your time. I'm just looking for a nudge in the right direction...

There are builders galore, with new developments constantly being built. It's such a shame that this area is growing so quickly.

There are plenty of local builders, with many new communities going up. There has been a slow down in the market regarding new construction, and some areas are seeing a halt to new construction altogether. However, you'll certainly find a good many local builders and resources here Home Builders Association of South Carolina - Home

I'd also check into Charleston's New Homes Guide, it's filled to the brim with new communities, construction companies, etc. Charleston SC New Homes & Custom Builders - New Homes Guide Charleston

I sincerely hope you find what you're looking for, but originally coming from Maryland and then Pennsylvania, I competely understand the pull the South has. Your family will love it here!
