There's only a few good bagel places around here. Bagel Nation and maybe one or two others.

Actually, there's a difference between lox (gravlax) and smoked salmon -

I like Bagel Nation, too - but you have to get there early if you're buying just bagels by the bag!

How are Bruegger (sp) Bagels?

i really don't like them--texture's not right. and their flavored cream cheeses have an 'off' chemical taste IMO.

That was my point as well, but I think they know the difference already. They simply have a local name for SS on a bagel.

LOL! Did you ever see the movie Men in Tights? Cary Elwes played Robin of Loxley (Robin Hood) and Marian was from Bagelle? Bagelle and Loxley .... Bagel and Lox ...... Mel Brooks includes a lot of Jewish references in his films in a funny way. I had no idea that in other parts of the country, people hadn't heard of bagels and lox. Learn something new everyday!

I know about bagels and lox, but I refer to lox as lox and ss as ss

When we were down checking out SC real estate, one thing I did do was taste the tap water in deifferent areas. I have to say, I thought the Summerville tap water was quite good, I didn't detect any sulfur like you get in Florida water.

The pizza isn't cheaper here. I was actually pretty surprised when I moved here that the price of a lot of things (groceries, restaurants, etc.) are comparable to MA. There are some things, like dairy products, that cost more here.

Interesting. Well, you're talking to someone who remembers paying $.25 a slice at one time, so everything seems expensive to me, in NY or SC .... lol

At least admission to the movies is about $1.50-2.00 less in SC than in NY and cigarettes are HALF the price. And gas! LI average today is $3.86 a gallon (regular) vs. $3.19 in the Charleston area. That's a significant difference.
