I can't remember when I had one last either. I love them, but we just don't eat them.

I was raised on the red colored, pork/beef hot dogs from Carolina Packers (Bright Leaf).

One of the best "restaurant" hot dogs I had was a comperable red dog, but their bun made it great. They used a standard bun, but they toasted the top. They ran the unopened top of the bun over a butter wheel and placed it top down on a flat top grill. That little bit of crunch on the top side of the bun was a bit unique and added to the experience. I liked it, and I've done it a few times at home (but again, I can't remember my last hot dog).

I also like my red hot dog a bit on the charred side. We used to cook them in a toaster oven at home and they weren't done until they were around 50% black. The added flavor was really good.

Holy crap I need a hot dog.

We used to stop by Jack's too, but it started tasting like the dogs had changed. That assumption was "confirmed" by a competitor of theirs (take that for what it's worth). But the taste, in our opinion, backed up the "rumor". We haven't been in years.

I do miss the days of "2 for $1" hot dogs! LoL

I'm so glad you posted Seppy's Grand Opening! The owner is the adult daughter of a good friend of mine. We've been waiting for the grand opening announcement

Sometimes you just need a good hot dog or brat!

It might have been a possum-dog for all I know. What I can tell you is that it was the best damn dog I've had in years.
