Hi Emily...I couldn't remember the exact area you were planning to rent, but I can say definitively that the greater Summerville area has rentals in that price range with washer and dryers. I have four rentals that are all homes less than five years old with all of the appliances that rent around $1000 in Summerville. (All currently filled or I would offer you one! Best of success in your endeavors!

Oh Thanks SCDweller but I was hoping to find something in Mt. Pleasant near the bridge (and Whole Foods) or in Northern James Island or West Ashley that was walking distance to Earth Fare & Starbucks. Or if not,I'd love somewhere close to the beach with gorgeous views. But if anything comes up, do let me know.

I hope the good rentals don't all get taken before the holidays because as luck would have it, the closing isn't scheduled until practically a week before Christmas. I bet I'll have to pay for a place beginning 12/1 to make sure I have a place I can move to.

Default mt pleasant

there is an older apartment complex that went condo a while back called the Montclair, it is right accross the street from Towne Center, shopping, dining, theatres. You can also bike to the beach from there. They sometimes have a unit for rent.
You can buy in there for around $150k
There are others nearby. Get a realtor to keep an ear to the ground for you.
mt pleasant is a high traffic area, OK, very high.

Yes goosecreeker, the realtor is taking me around next Wednesday and I think I have a listing of one of those Montclair units saved in my "favorites" . I saved it because of the location but then heard that it was right SMACK on 17 and it sounds like it might be noisy. Also, this particular unit sounded short on Square footage. It's on Parc vue I think.

I wish Hamlin Plantation wasn't so far away. I think I might love an end unit townhouse with double porches and a screened porch and access to that big pool with the big slide for when I have my neice and nephews come to visit.

But I think location (and ability to avoid traffic) might win out.

Emily, you won't notice any more traffic from Hamlin to downtown or the beach than you will from Montclair. Towne Center to 526 along 17 and towards downtown Charleston is where the traffic comes into play. It'll probably be much faster actually to take Rifle Range across the IOP Connector, and thru to Coleman and head into downtown Charleston if you need to, than jumping out on 17s from Hamlin or Montclair.
