Charleston County Government’s Mosquito Control Division will be conducting spray operations by air over the next several days. The public can expect to see a low-flying helicopter and airplane beginning Wednesday, June 5 between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Citizens should expect to see aircraft treating for mosquito larvae any time there has been a significant rain event or high tide from now through November.

Charleston County treats mosquito larvae in standing water, which becomes breeding grounds, from the air. Adult mosquitoes are treated by ground spraying. Ground spraying throughout the county is ongoing this time of year. The schedule for spraying on the ground is available online at http://www.charlestoncounty.org/departments/PublicWorks/MosquitoProgram.htm#schedules.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the other counties do this. I say this because I know people in other counties that complain about mosquitoes all the time, but we never have a problem with them.

It looks like a lot of counties do have mosquito control.

S.C. DHEC: Mosquitoes - Local Mosquito Control

Mosquito Abatement (Official Berkeley County Government Web Site)

Maybe the people that get a lot of mosquitoes live in an area with a lot of woods or water?
