It's a great place to stop after a concert, or local show. The service at 2am is super quick! (and no wait for a table )

Vegetarian, not vegan. Oreos are actually vegan, I've heard (not that it really matters to me, as I'm not vegan. But my vegan friend says they are, hehe).

BTW, on the original topic rather than my eating habits... I have also been to Page's and thought it was good. I went for breakfast one Sunday morning after a run and it was excellent. Probably one of the best places for breakfast I've been to in Mt. P.

And Page's opens fairly early on Sunday morning too!

I didn't know that about Oreos, they used to contain lard, changed in '98 to veg oil...

Gosh, at least 15 years ago I walked out of that place. Ironically, it wasn't the filth...

My adult daughter and I were ordering sundaes, she noticed that the employee was scooping the wrong flavor into the bowl. He argued that she had said chocolate not chocolate chip. She insisted that she had said chocolate chip, and I agreed. The young man looked back at us and proceeded to fling the entire sundae at the wall! Enough for the both of us never to go back!

I hear they have a good BLT, but a 'good' BLT isn't worth eating in a dirty place...well, to ME anyway.
Wow this brings back memories. My family were at a relatives houses for Thanksgiving. I said Auntie Florance can you please pass the mash potatoes. She yelled at me screaming Aunt Florance and throw the mash potatoes at me. We also never returned to this day.

We ate breakfast today at the Early Bird Diner. I really don't want to waste anyone's time explaining our experience , pretending we are food critics. So I will just sum it up. WOW ! We will be frequent repeat customers . Thank you for the recommendation

Glad you liked it! Did you see the spray painting of Guy Fieri's (from the Food Network) head above the counter-area? If you didn't, be on the lookout next time

Romanticizing restaurants that serve greasy, sub-standard food is completely perplexing to me. Those types of places are easy to find across the country (with the exception of the most upscale enclaves). If you can't find one in your city, consider yourself fortunate.

I can only speak to the Early Bird of the group mentioned, and it's anything but greasy, or sub standard.

I've also dined in most of the diners mentioned on DDD in Chicago, and those places were little holes in the wall that served high quality, innovative products.

"Greasy Spoon" refers to a type of small individually owned and operated restaurant, not the condition of the flatware.

I've been to many of them, in many parts of the country. I consider myself fortunate indeed.

Like Silversides, I only know of Early Bird Diner on this list. However, you know it's a good diner when there's a line of people waiting 30 minutes before the restaurant even opens. It probably has an average wait of an hour on most days.

I would love for them to expand! Especially their parking lot. Way too many people for such a small location.
